Grow through your story.

We all have our own stories and they constantly shape us. Counseling is a space to dig deep and uncover places in our story that impact us at the root. Kelly Opgenorth is a licensed professional counselor in Willow Park, Texas, who helps preteens and women struggling through anxiety, depression, trauma, perfectionism and over-control.

Healing comes through safe and healthy relationships.

Hidden within our stories can be places of unwanted pain and suffering. A healthy relationship provides the space to dig beneath the surface and cultivate a path towards healing. The goal of counseling is to help you grow by tilling up those broken places, providing support and tools, and moving you to a place of wholeness. If you’re struggling with growing into the next season of life — whether school, marriage, career, or family — I’d love to create that space with you.

Here’s what growth looks like.

It can be intimidating coming to counseling for the first time or for the first time in a while. During the first few sessions, we’ll spend time building our relationship and getting to know each other. From there, we’ll focus more on the places in your story from which you want to grow. Growth often requires a look at those hard places in your story. That can be daunting. And each piece is important to help you see the larger whole. My goal is to provide you with a better understanding of how those piece both fit together and matter.

I’ll meet you where you are.

Each session is about 50 minutes, typically every two weeks or once a month. It’s important that we meet in person to better understand each other, communicate, and build our relationship toward healing. The length of treatment depends on each person and what goals they have in counseling. As a counselor I strive to provide a calm and peaceful place where you can understand the different parts of your story and leave feeling accepted, heard, and further along in your process.
